"To all of the nerdy girls out there who hide behind their sketchbooks -- don't be afraid to tell your stories to the world. You're going to freak people out but you'll probably connect with them, too, and that's an amazing feeling to have.”

This typography print was designed from Domee Shi's Oscars acceptance speech where she touches on the importance of sharing the art that you may be embarrassed about. Sometimes I get that discomfort with sharing my work and fearing it won't be good enough, and these inspiring words were just what I needed to hear. Hopefully this piece resonates with my fellow artists who struggle with sharing their work at times too.

Buy it now as a print, to motivate you or someone who needs a little everyday inspo.

Choose between sizes 4x6, 6x9, or 8x12 Professional Print. Made with Lustre "E" (Kodak ENDURA professional photo paper with a fine grain pebble texture)

Raise your hand if you find yourself hiding your artwork from your husband, your parents, or friends 🙋🏻‍♀️. It can feel exposing, and a little embarrassing to share what’s deep inside your mind. It feels so vulnerable because it’s your vision and feelings and expressions all externalized. It’s even scarier to share that work online and subject yourself to feedback from strangers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Just wanted to share the wise words from Domee Shi, my fellow Chinese-Canadian Torontonian, from her freaking OSCARS speech. 🏆 "To all of the nerdy girls out there who hide behind their sketchbooks -- don't be afraid to tell your stories to the world. You're going to freak people out but you'll probably connect with them, too, and that's an amazing feeling to have.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m telling you all, the posts that I literally feel nervous about sharing, the ones that feel uncomfortably revealing and honest? They’re always the ones that connect me to new people and start conversations. So share your work. Share yourself. Representation matters and somewhere, someone out in the world may need it.
