Alexis & Collin's Dance Party Wedding
Fun, Heart-warming, DANCE PARTY!
Alexis and Collin were married in January, which is the depth of winter here in Toronto. They had to get creative with portraits and went for lots of colourful confetti to celebrate! Read on for Alexis' wedding story in her own words and to see her incredible bridal style:
From the get go, Collin and I knew we wanted to throw a big party for our family and friends to celebrate our marriage. We had been together for 7 years before we got hitched so the wedding was really just a reason to get everyone that we love together and have a fabulous time. Our top priorities were: Great Music, Great Photography, and a packed dance floor (and we succeeded on all three). Having a winter wedding can come in handy when trying to stay on budget but it also comes with it's challenges. I was worried it would be freezing and snowy (it wasn't thankfully) so I made a plan to have a confetti canon dance party photo shoot inside our venue with our wedding party and family. Everyone had a ton of fun shooting off confetti and dancing to 90s music as our photographer, Corynn, snapped away.
We were blown away by all of our vendors. The photos were better than we could have imagined, the flowers were beyond gorgeous, and the dance floor was packed from the time it opened to the time the lights went on thanks to our amazing DJ. All in all, it was an fabulous day that we will look back on fondly for years to come.
What's one detail your wedding had to have?
Fantastic music. I curated a very detailed song list for our DJ to go from but also asked him to take requests (as long as the requests weren't Pit Bull or the Cha Cha slide...)
What's something you could have done without?
We could have done without the wedding cake as we almost forgot to cut it haha But it was just a one tier red velvet cake that my mom had decorated with flowers the day of the wedding.
Tell us about your bridal style.
I wanted classic with some edge. I debated wearing a mermaid gown but then realized I really don't have many opportunities to wear a ball gown and twirl in layers of tulle haha The dress was classic so I needed to pump it up a notch with a shoulder necklace from Etsy for indoors. For outdoors, I knew I needed #thejustmarriedjacket. I almost had Sylvia make me a customized jacket , then chickened out, then realized that I needed the original just married jacket in my life. As a constant leather jacket wearer, it just made my ensemble that much more "me". Oh, and I wore glittery TOMS for shoes.
What's your advice for future brides?
Don't spend outside your means, don't stress the details, stay true to you and your partner... and make sure you can DANCE!!!
