Freda + Justin's Intimate Toronto Wedding
An interview with bride #114
My wedding day went by like a blur and I was very happy that I hired a videographer and photographer to capture all the moments and to look back at and remember. The day started off with a sleepless night in a beautiful Airbnb in downtown Toronto and the makeup and hair team was ready to go. I think getting ready with my twin sister and closest girlfriends made the morning surreal and calming. My mother and father arrived for pictures too and that made me less nervous. When my photographer arrived it was also quite special, she's amazing and has a very calming personality.
Seeing my soon-to-be-husband for the first time in the backyard for our first look was surprisingly fun and I laughed through the entire moment. I think when everyone arrived at the house and I got my first glance at everyone all dolled up it made me feel so special that they were all there to help us celebrate.
When we arrived at the venue, it was great to see everything set up. Having the tea ceremony prior to the actual ceremony was a great way to tie in traditions and old values. Walking down the aisle in front of all our family and friends and being surrounded by so much love was great. Saying my vows was nerve-racking but I got through them. Playing the game where I had to touch multiple men's nose bridges and figuring out which one was my husband's while blindfolded was funny - and I guessed correctly! Dancing, drinking and eating late-night eats was the perfect way to end an amazing and awesome day.
With #TheJustMarriedJacket, I was a part of a sisterhood. Other women before and after me will share the magic of the jacket by having it passed from woman to woman on their special day. I had the jacket sitting nearby while we had our hair and makeup done and I had it on for some of the photos in the afternoon and in the evening.
Describe your wedding day in 3 words.
Amazing, fun and special.
What's one thing that your wedding day HAD TO have.
Our loved ones.
What's one thing you could've done without or proved to be unnecessary in the end?
The worrying and the little details you pay attention to, like what goes on the tables.
Tell us about your bridal fashion style and how you decided on the details of your look.
My bridal fashion style is untraditional, free-flowing, carefree and all-around fun. When I was looking for my dress I knew I didn't want to get married in a constricting sweetheart neckline dress. I chose my dress based on it being comfortable, light and capturing my style perfectly. The other things like accessories, hairstyle and makeup were based more on my personal style and how much I love braids and bling. I even had my veil custom made to include some bling and to match the flowers on my dress.
What's your advice for future brides?
Don't worry so much and either get a wedding planner or elope at City Hall.
